Overview
The Neighborhood Christian Clinic is a charitably funded medical and dental clinic serving those in the Phoenix area who lack access to healthcare. It continues to serve according to its threefold mission; to provide medical and dental healthcare services to the uninsured, underserved community; to share the Gospel and love of Christ with interested patients and colleagues; and to train and equip healthcare professionals to respectfully share the Gospel and love of Jesus in their daily practice. The clinic currently provides approximately 10,000 patient visits on-site per year, as well as additional referrals off-site to volunteer specialists and for elective surgery. Care is provided by a small staff as well as a large core of volunteer healthcare professionals and students from local training programs.
Mission & Passions
The Neighborhood Christian Clinic was co-founded by Dr. Paul Lorentsen, who grew up attending a church that was deeply invested into international missions, and then later spent time as a medical student at Lawndale Christian Health Center. As a result, from its inception, clinic leadership has been deeply concerned about representing Christ, first in the neighborhood where it is located, but also with the large group of volunteers that arrive to serve. Efforts are made to hire staff members from the local community, resulting in an increasingly diverse staff. We strive to provide excellent care and to create access to specialty care and services which we know are extremely difficult for our uninsured patients to obtain. We train our staff to take not only medical histories, but spiritual histories as well, and we ask that God would open the door to spiritual conversations with patients.
