Overview

Our Health Center was established to help demonstrate Jesus' love for the whole person through healthcare. Most of our patients are in poverty and nearly half are refugees from all over the world who have fled their homeland due to strife or other circumstances not under their control. Our patients speak over 40 different languages, with significant populations from 11 language groups. Our goal is to provide empowering ministries to demonstrate Jesus' love for the whole person to all who come to us.

Job Title — Certified Midwife

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced midwife to join the team at our Health Center. The midwife will work in both outpatient and inpatient settings to provide compassionate and personalized care to pregnant women and their families, guiding them through the childbirth process and offering support before, during, and after delivery. They will collaborate with other health professionals to ensure the well-being of mothers and infants.

Essential Job Duties
CLINICAL

  • Provide maternity care services in the outpatient and hospital settings

  • Conduct thorough prenatal assessments, including physical examinations, medical history reviews, and diagnostic tests

  • Educate and counsel women about pregnancy care, nutrition, and lifestyle

  • Assist and support women during labor and childbirth. Monitor fetal and maternal well-being, recognizing and addressing any complications

  • Conduct postpartum assessments. Offer guidance on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.

  • Provide family planning and counseling, including contraceptive education and prescription

  • Provide support and counseling to patients and families during times of pregnancy loss

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with patients, family, and other healthcare team members

  • Willing to work with and train family medicine residents

ADMINISTRATION

  • Maintain electronic medical records efficiently and maximize resources

  • Create a learning plan that includes familiarity with new research and changes to standard of practice

  • Participate in quality improvement activities

  • Attend required staff and provider meetings except when clinical activities prevent such attendance

  • Maintain current certifications including all mandatory annual and CPR training

  • Ability to adhere to professional code of ethics, and compliance to Article 28 and FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) requirements

TEAM

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams at the Health Center and at a local Children’s Hospital

  • Ensure all actions, personal conduct, and communications represent the organization professionally.

  • Uphold and ensure compliance to all policies/procedures, mission, and organizational values in a highly professional manner

Qualifications

  • Completion of a master’s or higher degree program in midwifery or a related field that is: registered by the Department as licensure qualifying; or accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education; or determined by the Department to be equivalent of such a registered or accredited program.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative working relationships

  • Excellent patient-centered skills and clinical capabilities
