Our Health Center was established to help demonstrate Jesus' love for the whole person through healthcare. Most of our patients are in poverty and nearly half are refugees from all over the world who have fled their homeland due to strife or other circumstances not under their control. Our patients speak over 40 different languages, with significant populations from 11 language groups. Our goal is to provide empowering ministries to demonstrate Jesus' love for the whole person to all who come to us.

Job Title — Director of Dental (Dentist)

Job Description

The Dental Director is responsible for the oversight of the dental Clinic at the Community Health Center under the direction of the Chief of Pharmacy Services (CPO). The Dental Director is responsible for the quality of services, development and maintenance of all the quality assurance processes and supervises the Dental providers, Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants and overall Dental team. The Dental Director provides clinical direction to the office staff ensuring all regulatory compliance, safety and standards of care are followed and maintained. The Dental Director serves as a working Dentist maintaining a patient case load and is involved in developing and implementing organizational goals and strategic decisions within their department(s).

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

DENTAL PROVIDER/DEPARTMENT OVERSIGHT

• Provide hands-on patient care as scheduled each week

• Oversee the proper Performance of surgical procedures on the teeth, bone and soft tissues of the oral cavity

• Develop, maintain and implement formal clinic policies and procedures; guide future hires of dentists and professional staff to deliver consistent standards of care according to policies and assuring clinical practices are above reproach and of the highest quality

• Refers patients for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols

• Communicates Dental Department issues, concerns, program status, initiatives, and progress to the CPO

• Assist with designing, developing, and implementing appropriate Dental Department policies, protocols and procedures which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards.

SUPERVISION

• Conduct the interview process, hire, orient and train new professional staff of hygienists and assistants and other dental department personnel.

• Evaluate the professional staff upon hire (30, 60, 90 days) and annually to support growth and development

• Collaborate with the Chief of Pharmacy Servies and other clinic management to ensure smooth operation of dental clinic and programs including staffing and patient visit ratios, scheduling, cost-benefit of programs; advise on facilities and equipment purchases and repairs

• Develop and oversee budget for the Dental Department

• Communicate with executive level leadership regarding the Dental Department

• Collaborate with executive level leadership on three-year strategic plan for Dental and outline a process for execution of plan

• Strategize departmental process improvement and innovation within workflows.

• Mentor, develop and hold one-on one meetings with mid-level leaders

• Conduct performance reviews of management within department

• Ensure management complies with clinic policies and procedures

• Oversee department’s overall performance and correct as necessary

• Understand conflicts within department and strategize solutions

• Ensure all staff within department complete mandatory required training

• Attend Senior Leadership & All Staff meetings

• Embrace educational opportunities such as; Leaders Who Lunch & Learn, Leadership University, additional trainings as offered

• Ensure “trickle down” communication re: organizational changes, expectations, budget implications

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Dental Program

• Possession of licensure to practice as a dentist in the state of New York

• Strong leadership skills and ability to make mature decisions autonomously and with input from others

• Experience in management in a dental officer preferred

• Must maintain positive interpersonal relations within patient and co-worker relationships

• Previous experience with the Medent EMR or Dentrix system strongly preferred

• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Experience working with, diverse, multilingual populations highly desired
